Three cast members from CBC TV’s adventure series Arctic Air are among the best actress nominees as B.C.’s actors make their annual picks.
The indie coming-of-age movie Becoming Redwood also earned three nominations as the Union of B.C. Performers Awards were announced Wednesday, with winners to be named at a ceremony Nov. 24 at the Vancouver Playhouse.
In the best actress category, Arctic Air stars Pascale Hutton and Emilie Ullerup are both nominated, while Michelle Harrison is nominated for a guest role on the show as a flamboyant rock star.
Also nominated as best actress are: Ellie Harvie, for the TV movie Home Alone: The Holiday Heist; Chelah Horsdal for the TV movie Wishing Well; Gabrielle Rose for the indie thriller Crimes of Mike Recket; and Jennifer Copping for Becoming Redwood.
Best actor nominees are: John Cassini for the ensemble drama The Resurrection of Tony Gitone; Tyler Labine for the crime comedy Cottage Country; Gerard Plunkett for the political satire Camera Shy; John Pyper-Ferguson for an episode of CTV’s mystery series Motive; Ian Tracey for an episode of the Showcase sci-fi series Continuum and Chad Willett for Becoming Redwood.
Nominated as best newcomer are: William Ainscough for the CityTV comedy series Seed; Megan Charpentier for the horror feature Mama; Ryan Grantham as the title character in Becoming Redwood; Tyler Johnston for an episode of Motive; Alisha Newton for an episode of CBC’s Heartland; and Emily Bett Rickards for an episode of the CW series Arrow.
Nominees for best stunt are; Simon Burnett, nominated twice for separate episodes of Arrow; Cassandra Ebner and Jon Kralt, also nominated for Arrow episodes; Colby Chartrand for the action series True Justice; and Gerald Paetz, also for True Justice.
Nominated for best voice are: Peter Kelamis for Barbie: The Princess & The Popstar; Andrea Libman for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic; Alan Marriott for Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu; Peter New for The Littlest Pet Shop; and Nicole Oliver, also for The Littlest Pet Shop.
Oliver’s date for the awards night will be her son, fellow nominee Ainscough of Seed.
